Let’s focus here. New Year’s parties are over, Christmas is not going to come for another 350 days and the only holiday/break we have left is Easter which is pretty far from now. All this doesn’t really mean anything, but my point is that we can still eat a lot of cake without having an actual reason or event, just because.
Our family started 2017 by eating oranges, I have no idea why, but it seems like we’ve eaten about two oranges a day. You probably don’t care at all, but due to this, we decided to make them more interesting and recreate the orange cake which we also baked for the cake bar. The citrus flavor mixed with the chocolate glaze is just heaven on Earth and you will regret it if you don’t try it.
Advice: Get up now, gather all ingredients, and have some fun.

Sweets, TREATS
Ingredients
For the cake:
2 large eggs
9 tbsp sugar
9 tbsp vegetable oil
9 tbsp milk
700 gr (6 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
Filling:
5 tbsp all-purpose flour
10 tbsp sugar
300 ml (10.5 oz) milk
400 gr (3 ½ sticks) butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
the zest and juice of a large orange
Chocolate glaze:
100 ml (4 oz) heavy cream
8 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp cacao
Zest from an orange
Instructions
For the cake: Mix the eggs and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Slowly add the oil mixing continuously and then add the milk until all liquids seem evenly spread. Stirring with a wooden spoon (or any other kind of spoon, just don’t use a mixer), add in the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt). The batter should turn out more liquidy and not too thick. Turn a rectangular cooking pan over and sprinkle some flour on it. Split the batter in four and pour one of the quarters on top of the pan (basically its butt). Bake for about 5-7 minutes. When you take it out of the oven you have to be very careful and quick when taking the cake off. Use a knife and again, you have to be fast, if not you will never be able to take it off since it really sticks to the pan.
For the filling: In a saucepan put the flour, sugar and milk, stirring at medium heat continuously until it thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
After it cools completely add the butter, vanilla as well as the orange zest and juice.
Put the cream in between the layers
For the glaze: Put the chocolate, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder and orange zest in a saucepan. Whisk continuously and let it boil until it becomes dense. Pour the glaze on the cake. Leave the cake in the fridge for the glaze to harden and then cut it in small squares/rectangles. Enjoy it!
