7 days before.. ♪ the most wonderful time of the year♪.. and we decided to come up with another festive recipe
These sweet delights could complete the candy bar at a fancy Christmas party, however they are just as fabulous on a small plate in your living room if you’re more of a relaxing evening kind of person.
Spoiler alert: once you try one you probably won’t wish to stop (wise words from our own experience).
Savarins
Category:
Sweets, TREATS
Ingredients
Savarine batter:
6 eggs
7 tbsp plain bread crumbs
6 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
A pinch of salt
Syrup:
300ml (1 ¼ cups) water
200gr (1 cups) granulated sugar
10ml (¾ tbsp) rum extract, but really it depends on your taste
Whipped cream:
400ml (14 oz) whipping cream
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp vanilla
Topping:
Strawberry jelly (or any flavor your desire)
Instructions
Preheat the oven at 180°C (356) and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Separate the eggs putting the egg yolks in a large bowl.
Mix together the yolks, sugar and salt. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks. Slowly incorporate the egg whites, bread crumbs and flour in the yolk mixture with a wooden spoon.
To make the savarines, you’ll need baking cups of any size, depending on how big you want them. We used the baking cups in the picture, which are especially made for this, but cupcake ones should work just as well. Preparing the cups, if they are not the paper kind, you need to grease them with butter and then cover them in a thin coat of flour.
Syrup: Put the water and sugar in a saucepan to boil until the sugar dissolves. Remove the mixture from the fire and add the rum extract. Dunk the savarines in leaving them there for only a second, without getting them soggy.
They do look… DELICIOUS! Can we have some, please? What will come next?
