New Year’s Eve with a Pop of Pink

Here’s to a bright future! New Year’s Eve is all about partying, making resolutions, spending time with loved ones, and so on. For this year’s outfits, we decided to go with less glitter and more meaning. Both of the outfits of this series are meant to inspire you last-minute for looks that are still glam af.

As a college-bound high school student, Anna decided to express one of her resolutions within her outfit: get accepted into a prestigious university. Not only does this red and white Harvard sweatshirt reference a goal for a bright future, but it also comes in handy in the cold midnight weather. Underneath the sweatshirt, she is wearing a red snake print dress. The reason why we chose a dress instead of a long skirt is because you can take the sweatshirt off and immediately transition to a more elegant outfit.  

And now, the item that brings this outfit to a whole new level: hot pink heeled boots. We’ve always considered red and hot pink an interesting color combination for a bold outfit. In order to cohesively incorporate hot pink in this outfit, we decided to accessorize it with earrings that matched both the color of the dress and the color of the boots. Moreover, as we thought we needed one more pop of pink in the outfit, Anna did her eye makeup using soft pinks, matching her lips to the boots and the earrings. One last accessory that completed this outfit was a white headband. As the sweater contrasted the rest of the outfit with its brightness, we thought that another touch of white will balance out all the items of this look.

Essentially, you can recreate Anna’s outfit with a dress, a pair of boots, and an oversized sweatshirt. Even if you don’t want to take the risk of hot pink and red, you can use more neutral colors, spice it up with only one pop of color or some glitter, there are plenty of options.
